PTC are next week Wednesday and Thursday.  Conference times are going home today with your child.  If there are any concerns with the time the office provided, please let me know!

*Daily Orange Card Signatures (This is the second and final week on this card)
*Please encourage your child to read daily and document their minutes on the January BOOK-IT calendars.  The more kids read, the better readers they become.  January calendars are due at the end of the week.  February calendars are going home with report cards on Wednesday, Jan. 30. 
*New EB small groups begin on Monday for Q3.  We are hoping to help all students meet their springtime goals!  Remind your child that they have a fresh, clean slate for Q3.  Let's make it great!  :)

New Behavior System

Some of you may have noticed something new when looking at your students Orange Cards.  If you are seeing a -1 or -2 etc. on their behavior chart it has to do with Class Dojo, the website above.

This is a website where we can keep track of BOTH good behavior and poor behavior throughout the day.

At the end of the day, if your student finds themselves with negative points on the website, we mark it on their orange cards.

All students start out with 0 points.

Example of a day: 
-Bob is staying on tasks, he earns a point.                      Total: 1
-Bob is prepared for the next lesson, he earns a point.      Total: 2
-Bob is talking to a neighbor, he loses a point.                 Total: 1
-Bob isn't following hallway procedure, he loses a point.   Total: 0

It is now the end of the day, Bob is NOT at a negative therefore he doesn't receive an Orange Card mark.  IF Bob ended the day with a negative, that is when we would be marking his Orange Card.

*Last day of Q2 is this Thursday, Jan. 24. (No school on Friday, Jan. 25.)  Report Cards will go home with students on Wednesday, Jan. 30. 
*The Spelling Bee has been rescheduled for Monday, Jan. 21 at 3:30. 
*New EB groups will begin on Monday, Jan. 28 to begin Q3.  The data from winter NWEA was used to create the best groupings. 
*This Thursday afternoon, Jan. 24, some students have earned a reward for good behavior and responsibility throughout the marking period.  They will have an afternoon of fun at the Boys & Girls Club.  Congratulations!!  We are proud of you.

Winter Gear

With the harsh winter weather fast approaching

we can't stress enough the need for WARM winter attire for your students, as they go outside twice daily (lunch and afternoon recess). 

**If you are having a hard time finding coats/gloves/hats/scarves for your students, PLEASE contact us so we can help keep your students warm!!**
